In light of the COVID-19 outbreak, Governor Pritzker and Mayor Lightfoot have recommended that all large public gatherings should be postponed in Illinois for the next 30 days.

While this is devastating news for our local food system and farmers market network, it is our responsibility as organizers to keep the public, our vendors, and our staff safe and healthy.

We acknowledge that in light of this health crisis, access to healthy, fresh, nutritious food is more important now than ever. We are also concerned about the impact this will have on our vendors and our local economy.

Rather than outright cancelling our March Indoor Farmers Market, we’ve worked with our vendors and Local Circular Economy Leaders Network to move our market online!

We have compiled resources for people to support Plant Chicago’s vendors through pick up locations, home delivery, or community shared agriculture (CSA) options.

How does it work?

Our online farmers market works just like an in person farmers market! By clicking the link, you’ll be directed to a page with a list of various vendors that offer pick up or delivery services. True to the style of farmers markets, to support multiple vendors, you’ll have to visit multiple “stalls” and run individual transactions.

Also true to the style of farmers market, each online market has a different layout. Through the Chicago Farmers Market Collective, you can explore farmers markets all over the city, from the comfort and safety of your home!

Will you still be offering Link Match?

Unfortunately, there is no way to accept Link online. Since it is a pin based system, the transaction has to be done in person. Markets across the city are working together to explore various pick up/curbside options so we can process Link transactions and continue to offer the dollar per dollar match through Link UP Illinois.
