Edible Container Gardening (Virtual Class)

About this Event

Summer may have started but there is still plenty of time to grow your own food this season!

Container gardens allow for a versatile place to experiment with new garden trends or try your first crops. During this class with Vivant Gardening Services owner Kasey Eaves, you’ll learn what containers to choose, how to ensure good soil and how to maximize your space so you too can have abundant harvests in the city! Learn what crops to start now, how to succession sow seeds and keep your container garden healthy through the hot dry Summer.

About the Instructor

Kasey Bersett Eaves started growing edibles and her treasured sunflowers at age two on family farm property in Southern Illinois. She hasn’t sat down since! Just kidding…Now, as owner of Vivant Gardening Services, she makes gardening with edibles, natives and pollinator plants approachable to area residents, restaurants, schools and more. Never daunted by the task of growing in a city’s unusual spaces, Kasey loves finding creative and easily maintained growing solutions for city dwellers. Find her at the Chicago Botanic Garden’s Fruit and Vegetable Island on Summer Festival Days, at her passion project the Montrose Metra Community Garden, or better yet, catch her on Facebook or Instagram for this and other workshops!
