You’ve asked for it… you’ve waited for it… you got it! This year, Plant Chicago will be hosting a Haunted Halloween Extravaganza at The Plant. Located in the historic Back of the Yards neighborhood, The Plant is a 94,000 sq/ft former pork-processing facility turned into a community of small food businesses, all focused on reusing waste materials. It now houses 20 food businesses, and over 80 years of meat packing history.
The extravaganza will feature a Haunted Basement tour, including Plant Chicago’s aquaponic farm, the old mushroom fruiting chamber, JustIce’s production space, and more! Get ready for zombie fish, fog machines, and strobe lights – our volunteers very are excited!
The 1st and 2nd floors of The Plant will also be open, including the Whiner Beer Co. taproom, Pleasant House Bakery, smokehouse bathrooms, and the new Packingtown Museum space. For the younger crowd, we’ll have a spooky touch museum of eyeballs, brains, and other creepy things that are really just bowls of cold spaghetti.
The Halloween Extravaganza will run from 2-4 pm, with our regular 2 pm Public Tour being canceled and replaced by spookiness. Final entry for the Haunted Basement will be at 3:30 pm. Children 12 and younger are welcome to peruse the 1st and 2nd floors, but may not be interested in the Haunted Basement (parents, use your discretion).
Creepy costumes are encouraged and supported. Tickets will go on sale verrrry soon!
