The Urban Canopy and Advocates for Urban Agriculture, in partnership with other local organizers, are excited to be picking up the reins on a series of regional urban farmer summits hosted by Katie Williams, Patchwork Farms and friends in 2013, 2015 and 2018 in Chicago, IL. Past the Midwest Urban Farmers Summit has made spaces for us to gather with farmers from other cities to share plans, successes, challengers, questions and answers.
As in the past, MWUFS will be a mix of workshops, panels, presentations, and a keynote along the tracks of, economic viability, productivity, equity, and policy relevant to growers. Plus a potluck and time to hang out and get to know our broader community!
The aim is to enable resource- and knowledge-sharing, establish concrete plans and goals for urban farm-specific research, provide a platform for economic data-sharing, and to build towards a more collaborative, equitable community across the region.
Lots of great sessions in the works – keep an eye on the MWUFS website for updates as they finalize the schedule!
