Join Plant Chicago's Board of Directors!

Do you care about the environment? Are you interested in how we can divert waste or even turn it into a commodity? Do you care about investing in our youth and businesses to help support a cleaner Chicago?

Plant Chicago’s mission is to cultivate local circular economies. We envision a paradigm shift in production, consumption, and waste driven at the local level, generating equity and economic opportunity for all residents. Located in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, Plant Chicago (PC) is repurposing a former firehouse into a center for circular economy programming. PC is a highly collaborative organization with a small staff, a large and active volunteer base, and strong relationships with small businesses throughout Chicago. 2024 will be a pivotal year as we enter into the much-anticipated capital project to renovate our base of operations, The Firehouse, will come to fruition.
